About
We are committed to creating a welcoming, safe environment where Scouts can freely express themselves, share their experiences, and become the best version of themselves by learning from and respecting each other. We do this together through outdoor adventures and service to others.
We are Active
We meet every Monday from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Minnehaha United Methodist Church, 3701 East 50th Street.
We are an active & outdoor-oriented troop.
We do service projects for our community.
We camp or do an activity every month.
We send a crew on high-adventure annually.
We attend a week-long summer camp annually.
Many of our scouts advance through the ranks and earn the rank of Eagle.
We are Safe
We follow Scouting America’s Youth Protection and Guide to Safe Scouting policies to keep everyone safe during our meetings and events. All adults who accompany youth during campouts are registered, trained volunteers who have passed a criminal background check.
We are Inclusive
We welcome youth between 11 and 18 regardless of race, color, religion, gender or gender identity, ancestry, or disability. If you’re looking for a great scouting experience for kids younger than 11, check out Cub Scout Pack 1.
In 2025, we will re-establish our “linked” girls troop, and we’re excited to invite more young women, as well as female adult leadership, to join us on our adventures together.
We are Youth-led
Our scouts truly lead the troop. Following scouting’s patrol method, youth are organized into smaller groups, or patrols, of around 6-8 scouts. Each patrol elects its own leadership. Patrol leaders run the troop meetings and plan troop activities such as campouts. Patrols do their own grocery shopping and cooking while camping. We encourage scouts who have achieved First Class rank to teach and test younger scouts’ knowledge and skills, so that they can also advance to the next rank. We encourage our scouts to look to each other for leadership, learning, and support so that they can all grow in their self confidence and leadership skills.
Chartering and organization
We’re chartered to Minnehaha United Methodist Church in south Minneapolis. We are officially Troop 3001. We are part of District L, in the Northern Star Council.
The Northern Star Council is part of Scouting America. Scouting America was formerly known as Boy Scouts of America.
