Camp Planning
With the scouts running the show, it takes some planning and preparation to have a successful campout.
This is what a typical weekend campout looks like.
Before camp
At the Troop meeting before camp, scouts will:
Divide into the patrols they'll serve in at camp. Existing patrols may be combined or rearranged, depending on attendance.
As a patrol, go through the gear that will be needed at camp:
Inventory the patrol boxes. Does each patrol have everything they will need to cook and clean?
Locate tents, if scouts will be using the troop tents. Are these complete and in good condition?
As a patrol, fill out the duty roster so everyone knows what they will be responsible for.
As a patrol, come up with a menu plan and assign a Grubmaster who will purchase food. Remember to buy enough food to feed adults who may be eating with your patrol.

What to pack
Not sure what to bring? Here's a packing list to get you started.
Let's go!
On the day of camp, we meet as a group at the church and pack up the Troop and personal gear into our cars. We leave together and arrive at camp together.
While at camp, we abide by the scout oath and law and work within our patrols to get things done. The Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leaders and are in charge. We use the buddy system at all times and let our leaders know where we're going. See our camp rules.
At the end of camp, we'll pack up our gear and leave our site better than we found it. Depending on the drive home, we'll often arrive back at the church to unpack the Troop gear and be ready for parent pickup in the late morning.
